CSES-197P Planting date and soybean maturity affects time to reach and duration that soybean remain in each reproductive stage. Prediction of these reproductive stages would help growers plan necessary management practices well ahead of time and execute them at the right stage. Data from soybean variety tests was used to develop reproductive stage prediction tables. The number of days needed for any relative maturity group (RMG) to advance to the next stage changed with planting date, regardless of whether the soybean were grown in a full-season or double-crop system. Delaying planting generally tended to reduce the reproductive period. Duration of the seed-filling period usually decreases by 1 to 3 days with each earlier RMG.
